Calvary

How can we forget the place called Calvary? It is where the devil was defeated and salvation for all was won. At Calvary, Jesus paid for our sins and transgressions while on the cross. He bore our sins upon Himself and we, in turn, took upon His righteousness by faith.

Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Col 2:14-15 (KJV)

Jesus cancelled out the sentence of death that was upon man because of sin. He gave man a chance to overcome the enemy that once had all captive to his will. He gave men the ability to experience true freedom.

You can rejoice and be glad, today, that Jesus paid for your healing, deliverance, salvation, and future resurrection at Calvary. On Calvary, my Jesus paid it all!

Prayer of the Week:

“Lord, I take time on to thank you for your work at Calvary. I thank you for salvation, grace, and the forgiveness of sins. Amen.”

Defend the Faith, Not Foolishness

As Christians, we have one ultimate responsibility: present the gospel of God through Jesus Christ. However, if we are not careful, we can spend time trying to answer questions and defend doctrines that are not essential to salvation. Paul warned Timothy against this,

But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strife. 2 Tim 2:23 (KJV)

So, the challenge on today is to examine our emphasis and focus. Do you spend time trying to explain things that will frustrate? Do you indulge foolish and crazy questions? Or do you defend the faith of Jesus Christ which is unchanging?

Remember, we are not here to defend what we have a right to do or explain why things are as they are in the world. We are here to present men with the glorious gospel of Christ, which frees men from sin.

Prayer of the Week:

I ask for boldness to stand up for the faith and avoid foolish debates. Help me to be an effective witness and example. Amen.”
